Black Heart Threadworks

Work is REALLY underway for Blackheart's "threadwork" division. The "Juki" is ready and waiting to be moved into the newly appointed sewing room. I dug out all my old "slend threadworks" materials including: 600 denier cordura (600 has a better hand than 1000), ladder locks, 2" side squeeze buckles, nylon webbing (various widths), nylon tape, YKK zippers with cord pulls, 2 and 3 bar ladders, etc... This addition to Blackheart is official because I just purchased a new pair of Ghingher (left handed) scissors. It's kind of a right of passage. This would be my 3rd or 4th pair of Ghinger's. Nobody's allowed to touch them:) Now i'm looking for my "hot knife" for cutting nylon webbing. It has been lost in the shuffle.

New Messenger Bag for Black Heart Bikes

Black Heart is designing a new messenger bag this week. It will be an all black bag with white graphics. Made from Cordura and YKK zippers and Nylon straps. The bag will be inspired from the old "Slend Threadworks" days in Flagstaff Arizona. The bag will be sold at black heart's online store from Big Cartel and some will be auctioned off on EbaY.

Skunk Works Spy Photo's

This is another photo from Skunk Works project.  I love the idea of Skunk Works.  It follows along the same line as project black box for mountain bikers.  The idea of having secretive designs that have not yet gone to production but still in the hidden developmental stage.  Although these images I'm showing are of designs that have already been proven many years ago by my designer and mentor Brian over at Kavik Designs.  Only thing is - is that the images of these dropouts have been pretty hard to find on the web.  Good news is, is that I have them!!!  Enjoi

Here is an image from Kavik Designs previous frames.  This one is steel with Alum drop.  Black Heart's frames will be made from 7005 series aluminum rather than the steel frame shown in this picture.

AMGEN Stage 7 Tour of California

I'm going to be honest - cycling fans are some of the nuttiest around.  Complete maniacs screaming running yelling dressing up as Mr. America with a Afro, Dressed as banana's and stuffed animals.  Cowbells have found a home.  Bless this group of outcasts.  BravO

Also, less than 10 seconds for a rear wheel change during a race.  Skills and power.

Drawing of Frame

I have both a 56cm and my 61cm frame drawings.  Right now I'm consumed by the Tour of Califonia.  It's funny how someone stole Lance's TT bikes.  What in the world are they going to do with it?  I also like to see that Rock Racing won yesterday's stage.

Seatstay Coupling Drawings

Progress is being made on the seatstay coupling.  Brian just sent me the CAD drawing for the break in the seatstay.  I love the simplicity of the design.  It looks like it will work seamlessly with the tubing.  Check out these images he sent me.  Some of the images are of the coupling closed and open.  enjoi.
